If I have learned anything this year .. it is that I won’t ever be ready for what life throws at me ! I won’t have the right words when it counts, I won’t know what to choose when fate itself is staring me down. But now I know I don’t always need to have the right answer !
I’ve learned I can go on waiting for something, sustained by hope and nothing more- or I can put it aside and shrug my shoulders. Bravely accept the fact that I can’t keep my heart safe any more than I can stop love from taking everything from me.
I have learned to stop saying yes when I don’t mean it- to live as authentically as I know how ! To allow the tips of my fingers to skirt the darkness, as long as I remember to keep my eyes fixed on the light. And as one door opens and another closes, I will move forward with the knowledge that I have 365 new days and 365 new chances.
What have you learned this year ?

This Christmas … I made these chocolate mug cakes and I sent out to my dear friends in my locality…. I tried out very many mug cake recipes until I finally found a recipe I was happy with ! It’s a perfect quick fix for a chocolate craving .. it takes less than 5 mins from start to tummy .. you can serve it as dessert too .. I love the fact it’s so easy to make yet so exquisite in look and taste .. I wanted my final post for this year to endorse my policy ……spend less time slaving in the kitchen and go out and do more .. bring in the new year “cupped” in love with spoonfuls of happiness… ♥️
Ingredients :
All purpose flour – 1/4 cup
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
Cocoa powder (sieved) – 2 tbsp
Granulated sugar – 2 tbsp
Salt – a pinch
Flavourless oil – 1 tbsp
Milk (at room temperature) – 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp
Pure Vanilla extract – 1/2 tsp
Method :
In a 12 Oz microwave safe mug or two standard ramekins .. add in the dry ingredients, stir well. Add the oil, milk and vanilla extract. Mix well. Microwave for 30 secs or until done.
Serve warm.
(Do note as each microwave differs you need to adjust time according to your microwave, you want the batter to be just done and not too firm.)
Add a pinch of love ♥️:
Add a tablespoon of chocolate chips or a tbsp of a chocolate spread into the batter before you microwave for a more luscious taste. Add a dollop of fresh cream and slivered strawberry drizzled with chocolate sauce to complete the look ! Or in my last trial I added some chocolate squares before microwaving and then once done top it with a thick old fashioned orange custard sprinkled with chocolate shards ! Totally elevates the look and feel of the dessert 😁
Oh and remember life is like a mug cake …it’s all in how you make it 🙃…Let all that you do .. be done in love..
xoxo,
Sareeka ♥️
