The “Sake the Bake” Story…

“Don’t touch the knife, you will hurt yourself!” are clearly the words that still ring in my ears whenever I think of my father. That was nearly 3 decades ago and it greatly influenced my desire to cook without knives. And the best way to do that? Bake! And thus began my journey into the world of witchcraft and bakery.

Having had generations of renowned cooks in the family, baking was in my DNA and I took to it like a fish to water. Some even joked that if there was no rice in the house there would always be cake!

Armed with my 40 year old Kenwood cake mixer (an heirloom from my grandmother) I forayed forth to my new home years later, when I got hitched. Sigh… They don’t make them like before. I meant the Kenwood not the husband 😉

Living in the suburbs with 3 kids in tow, offered me ample opportunities to bake and shake as much as I want to, while using them as my food critics for all my new recipes.

There is nothing more arresting than the smell of freshly baked goodies but only when they are baked with love, just the way my mother and grandmother did.

I have come to acknowledge the fact that the older you get, the more life is about what you bake of it, pun intended 😉

So here I am, inviting you to Bake with me, as I take you on a journey into my culinary world…and no knives please !

xoxo,

Sareeka❤️ (a.k.a Sake the Bake)

P.S – For the ponderers : “Sake” is pronounced to rhyme with “Bake”.
